25.03.10: Correction: Article in the Financial Times Deutschland and on www.wissen.de
In an article in last weekend’s edition of Financial Times Deutschland (dated 19 March 2010), unfounded accusations were made against the Peter Ustinov Foundation. The article was also published in the online edition of Financial Times Deutschland and on the website www.wissen.de. Unfortunately, the Peter Ustinov Foundation has been forced to apply for an injunction against the Financial Times Deutschland and Wissenmedia GmbH.
This article was based on an interview with Stefan Loipfinger, who operates the “charitywatch” website. The Peter Ustinov Foundation has already successfully taken out an injunction to defend itself against Stefan Loipfinger and his false accusations.
We very much regret that Financial Times Deutschland did not offer the Peter Ustinov Foundation an opportunity to comment on his accusations before publication, which would have been in line with the journalists’ code of conduct. After a conversation with the editorial office – following publication – the section about the Peter Ustinov Foundation was then taken down from the online edition. In this conversation the Peter Ustinov Foundation was also able to clarify that the crime reported by Charles Huber, which was mentioned in the article, did not result in a prosecution because there was proof that the Peter Ustinov Foundation was innocent.
