Children in India
With a population exceeding a billion, India following China is the second most populous country worldwide. One third of its inhabitants live beyond the poverty level.
With 48%, the rate of illiterates is very high. Three quarters of the population are living in rural regions with few schools and almost no medical treatment centres.
Most of the children coming from poor families suffer from a weak immune system compromised by lack of vitamins and poor hygiene. They get ill more often, however, the families do not have the money to pay for the doctor or necessary drugs. Thus, the infant mortality rate is very high.

Help for the children at Mount Abu
Building schools / medical care in India
Show ways for a better future
The people living near Mount Abu in the Indian region of Rajasthan are very poor. Many generations had to live here without any medical care. Thus, seemingly harmless diseases like measles
or diarrhoea have been lethal for children.
Prevent infant mortality
To offer those children a future and to show a way
for escaping poverty, the Foundation supports medical care and schools for boys and girls. The Global Harmony Foundation and the Peter Ustinov Foundation jointly ensure the supply of clean drinking water and build sanitary arrangements. In the health care area, a mobile clinic has been established that also administers inoculation. Additionally, the building of three schools is supported.
The Peter Ustinov Foundation supports this and other projects contributing to the well-being of destitute children and their families. Please help us to realise our humanitarian efforts and aims, and give those children a hopeful future.
