AIDS in Russia

Allein in Russland leben etwa 250.000 „offiziell registrierte” HIV-Infizierte.

Help for HIV-infected children

Home for Russian AIDS orphans

A future for AIDS orphans

Russia has the highest growth rate of AIDS infections worldwide. This malicious immunodeficiency syndrome has become a gigantic problem in the world’s largest country. More and more adults die because of this disease – and more and more parents. Their children, partly also HIV infected, are left alone.

Children are waiting for help

Russia has to deal with major economic problems, and disadvantaged social groups get few support. Therefore, only one orphanage for HIV-infected children exists in this big country. But: This orphanage is very small. It only provides room for 28 orphans. So, the number of children on the waiting list is continually rising.

This is how the Peter Ustinov Foundation helps

In order to provide a home for these girls and boys, the Peter Ustinov Foundation in cooperation with its partner, the German association “Hilfe für HIV-Waisenkinder e.V.“, builds an orphanage for roundly 50 AIDS-infected children.
After the Russian government provided the required piece of real estate and promised to finance the needed staff as well as follow-up costs, the Foundation contributes significantly to building and equipping this orphanage.

The Peter Ustinov Foundation supports this and other projects contributing to the well-being of destitute children and their families. Please help us to realise our humanitarian efforts and aims, and give those children a hopeful future.
