Cook Islands

Nan Hauser is a marine biologist and whale researcher. She is Director of the Cook Islands Whale and Wildlife Centre in Rarotonga. While scientific research is her main focus, Nan is very committed to teaching children and young people the significance of the ocean and raise awareness for its flora and fauna. This involvement is voluntary and cannot be done without donations. The Peter Ustinov Foundation welcomes this commitment and has supported the project financially in 2013.

IDEA Foundation

Whilst in India school attendance is compulsory, there are still far too many children who are forced to work. Together with our local partner, the IDEA Foundation, we are enabling these children to participate in an inclusive education program. The IDEA Foundation supports the children and their families with the help of social workers and teachers. In extra lessons the children catch up on missed classes and after a short time, attend the grade appropriate to their age. There are already 25 schools in rural western India participating in this project.
